Your bargaining committee met with the employer June 6 to 8 at AUPE headquarters in Edmonton to continue negotiations for your next collective agreement.
We reached agreement on changes to Article 43, Occupational Health and Safety that includes training in the fundamentals of OH&S for all new employees and language on a working alone policy.
In addition, we agreed to make some language changes to Articles 3, 7, 8 and 46, which will allow those items to be signed off.
Your bargaining team made some progress on important issues such as Occupational Health and Safety and the Grievance Procedure in Article 29 as well.
We also discussed significant job security language in areas such as Classification, Workload and Exclusions from the bargaining unit, but much work is still needed to get useful language in the collective agreement.
Negotiations are scheduled to continue June 27 to 29 and July 6 and 7.
Your committee will continue to push for the important changes needed to protect your rights at the workplace.
